Our Worship Services

Our church seeks to worship God in Truth and in Spirit based on John 4:24. Here are some of things that characterize our worship services:

We lift our hands in prayer
The Bible tells us to “lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the LORD (Psalm 134:2). In the New Testament Paul encouraged the churches saying “I want all men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing” (1 Timothy 2:8).

We pray together as a body of Christ for specific needs
In the Bible we see that this is what the first church did. “When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. "Sovereign Lord," they said, "you made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and everything in them"(Acts 4:24).

We anoint with oil and pray for the sick
Jesus commissioned us to pray for the sick: “They will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well” (Mark 16:18). The Bible encourages us to anoint and pray for the sick: “Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven” (James 5:14-15).

We share our needs as a body of Christ.
This is what the First church did “And they laid them at the apostle’s feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need” (Acts 4:35).

We minister to the Lord in worship. Each service begins with joyous songs of praise, prayer and worship.

We minister to people: Pray for the sick, comfort the hurting and sorrowful, encourage the weak and weary, and reach out in love to those who need a friend.

We minister the Word of God. The proclamation of the Gospel comes after individuals have opened their hearts to God and turned from themselves to others. Only then are they truly ready to hear and benefit fully from the Word of the Lord.

We get exited about gathering together for worship
The Bible teaches us to form the habit of coming together “And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds not forsaking our own assembling together as is the habit of some, but encourage one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24-25)

We also prophesy, speak in tongues and have interpretation of tongues
The Bible encourages us to prophesy and not to stop others from speaking in tongues “be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues (1 Corinthians 14:39). And “If anyone speaks in a tongue, two — or at the most three — should speak, one at a time, and someone must interpret (1 Corinthians 14:27). “For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind (1 Corinthians 14:14,15).

We encourage participation by allowing testimonies, hymns, prophecy, and encouragement from all who are so led.
The Bible teaches us that when “we should speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs” (Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16). The word also commands us “when we assemble, each one has a psalm, a teaching, a revelation but all should be done for edification of the fellowship” 1 Corinthians 14:26
